maui part one

these pics are completely out of order, so i'll try to put good caption on them.
we went on the "road to hana" and it was really neat! its just a road that takes you through alot of the island that has tons of history and pretty views. this was a hike we took and thats all bamboo you see.
the pic above was at a swap meet. this guy collects coconuts and paints them, puts eyes on them etc. as you can see in the background there is a ton. they guy was a little crazy but funny and trying so hard to sell them to us...they were so expensive too! this is lady gaga...yep even more ugly as a coconut.
the pic below was us at ka'anapoli beach.
this was on the road to hana hike. the tree roots were the stairs, very very neat!
out enjoying the beautiful weather and ocean!
i have no idea what this flower is called, but its really pretty!
we were trying to capture the waves flying up behind me,...but it didn't really work.
this was on the road to hana as well (there's probably a ton more from there too) this was beautiful! and we saw some dolphins swimming way down below us, very cool, but that was the only time we saw them.

this was my favorite tree on the island. we found it out exploring the beach the 1st night we got there.

this was the tropical plantation. just had lots of pretty flowers and views (just like the whole island) i loved how the clouds were always hovering over the tops of the mountains.
on the road to hana again. we stopped on this little peninsula and the waves were so pretty! and the water was so blue!
these spiders were everywhere and they freaked me out! so gross. and he's eating what looks like a lizard? very neat looking, but gross. they look so dangerous.
watching the waves on the peninsula
i loved the tiki statues they had everywhere! i bought a little one at the swap meet for $9....we just picked the coolest looking one and realized later its the "god of money" tiki....this either means we're good at picking or that we're worldy....hmmm
at the peninsula
all the girls in front of the tropical plantation...you can tell who's not blood i this picture...im a red head, white white skin, short boy hair, boy body, boy face...atleast im not the shortest :-)

i loved watching the waves curl over! i've always loved surfers and waves. my goal was to surf this vacation, but unfortunately maui doesn't have good surfing waves (and if they did it was into rocks) so i didn't get to surf :-(
kris and brandon caught a gecko (their goal this trip) it felt really neat walking on my fingers. he's not as bright as he should be because he was so scared. as soon as we put him back on the tree he went bright green again! they were everywhere out there! but so fast and hard to catch.
at the peninsula
these crabs were everywhere on sugar beach! you could just stand there and look at the beach and see them everywhere
at the peninsula
the plumaria! my favorite lotion :-) the flower smells nothing like the lotion...weird. the lotion smells better
looking down on the peninsula having fun with the plumeria and the sun
honokalani black sand beach...it's located in the wainapanapa state park. very neat with the white waves and black rocks.
this is wailua falls on the road to hana. its a 200 ft waterfall and so so pretty! we hiked over to it (took a whole 3 mins to hike) and then got in the freezing cold water. when you get in and look up at the falls (if you can even see) its so awesome! such an awesome opportunity!
having fun on our beach (wailea beach). and yes...this was our view from our hotel. it was amazing, walk outside and the coastline was at our feet :-)
at the peninsula
kris and i messing around again
at the peninsula

coming home from the road to hana...what an awesome sight! 2 rainbows into the tropical mountains and clouds! beautiful!
this was our view everynight on our beach. we would put a blanket down, swim in the pool or beach, lay in the hammock etc. and watch the sun set. beautiful!
snorkling at the molokini crater. we got on a boat (with like 60 other people) and drove an hr. out to this old volocano. saw some neat fish and coral and then drove over to turtle town. oh my gosh! this was the highlight of the trip for me. the turtles were as big as me (no joke!) and you swam with them!!! i swam just 5 ft. away from them. they are very curious things, they come right up to you and the boat, check you out and then swim away. i didn't have the waterproof camera this day (of course) so i was way sad about that. but what a neat thing this was! you should google molokini...way neat pics and interesting history!
another sunset pic from our beach
on the boat after molokini

the wind + salt water = nasty hair for me = hat all week
sitting on the hammock with kris

even though my hair is being blown away by the wind and brandon has a half smile, i love this picture :-)
this was the sunset on ka'anapali beach on the 2nd night we were in maui
sunset on our beach (wailea)
mmm....
snorkling at ka'anapali beach...my 1st snorkling experience. very neat!
our beach
our beach. before dinner at outback
ka'anapoli beach. one of my favorite pics
my 1st sorbet experience...delicious! i craved them after this. and i have no idea what face bran's making.
our beach
shopping at the local shops. they had the coolest surf stores there and all of the pac sun's, roxys & quicksilvers had little kid clothes. you never see that in utah. took this pic cause 1). i've never seen a volcom store and 2). for mimi...she loves volcom.
eating or delicious sorbets
the best looking surfboard ever! it was at one of the surf shops. and it only cost $1100 :-) i so wanted it
and please excuse my nasty, greasy, sweaty white skin in all of the pics. its hot and sunny there. lots of sun screen and water! oh and excuse my yucky hair. i'll post more later i'm sure :-)

wow, I want to go today!
That peninsula is beautiful, gorgeous waves!

I think costco might sell some sorbet like the pinapple ones in the frezer section (its a fruit variety in fruit shells including the pinapple one) if you get lonesom for some Hawaii!

Costco totally sells sorbets like the ones you were eating! That was the first thing I thought. Although I'd be interested to see if they were better/worse/the same...

Looks like you are having a blast!! Wish I was there enjoying the sun and the awesomeness. Sigh. today I could use some Hawaii.
